Objectives

1) Improving interface with the Government agencies:
To actively engage in the development of legislation and regulation that impact member company’s ability to manufacture and market their product.
To interface with various government agencies like Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and its state nodal agencies, Ministry of Urban Development, Ministry of Finance and other relevant departments –
Advising key decision makers on issues like:
  • Rationalisation of GST
  • Creation and implementation of support programmes and other regulations to develop a sustainable solar thermal market.
  • To anticipate legislations having a potential impact on the sector and lobbying for favourable legislative framework.
  • 2) Creating product standards:
    To Work with government agencies like MNRE, BIS, BEE, and DGS&D to introduce one common and comprehensive accreditation system for the complete solar thermal systems.
    3) Collecting and maintaining industry data:
    To collect and maintain statistics (annual sales and other customer related information) of solar thermal industry in India and become singularly responsible for providing an credible information to various government agencies, other national and international bodies.
    4) Communicating and networking:
    Provide a positive and a co-ordinated industry voice to the national, local and international media for advancing the industries message and expanding the market.
    Inform its members on the latest legislative developments, future Indian and global market developments
    Facilitate business to business contacts among industry stake holders to support industry growth.
    Develop and support actions which increase consumer confidence, product quality and penetration of solar thermal systems.
    Take complaints from the public on solar thermal systems performance matters.
    5) Human resources development:
    Introduce short training programmes for creating a pool of certified installers trained in all aspects of this business and this poll of manpower is made available to the member companies for ensuring a sustained growth of the industry.
    3) Market development:
    Work for Work for increasing the penetration of solar thermal systems for residential, institutional and commercial use and concentrated solar thermal systems for process heating, cooking and cooling.
    Explore business opportunities in international market for exports particularly the International Solar Alliance (ISA) partners.
    Publish a quarterly news magazine on the latest industry news, STFI activities and events, market information, technical advances and other international developments in the solar thermal industry.
    Organise collective market development activities like conventions, trade shows and seminars to raise awareness about the solar thermal systems, expand the market and to exchange information.
